Bright and early on a recent Saturday morning, my aunt and I boarded a plane for West Palm Beach, Florida. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t so bright but that’s only because it was so early! 4am to be specific. It’s tough extracting yourself from bed when the sun hasn’t even plucked itself over the horizon yet. The promise of waves crashing on the shore was a pretty darn good motivator, as was the knowledge I would soon get to see my other aunt, uncle, and cousins who call Florida home these days. (more…)

We left Belize behind in the setting sun, and set a course for Cozumel, Mexico. I’ve been to Cozumel before, but it has definitely become even more touristy than it was before. To be frank, I try to avoid Cozumel as a port of call because it is too commercial for my taste. (more…)
Venturing across the Ohio River into Kentucky (go ahead and get any jokes out of the way now). If you love horses, cars, and nature then this is the State for you. Kentucky is famously home to both Churchill Downs, where the Kentucky Derby is held each year, and the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The horse park is jaw droppingly large and simply awesome!
Growing up in Southwestern Ohio, it seemed like a nearly weekly occurrence to venture into a neighboring State. It blew my mind when I moved to the middle of the State and met people who hadn’t crossed the State border until much later in life or not at all in some cases. I also finally understood why so many people said Ohio is flat and nothing but corn fields! (more…)
I have struggled to find my voice with this blog and have decided to try a slightly different approach. Growing up it was important to my parents that we take a week long family vacation each summer. Nothing extravagant and always road trips. (more…)
