Just outside Northern Cascades National Park is a long (I think about 7 miles?) winding gravel and dirt road leading you up near the summit of Sauk Mountain.  If you don’t know where to find it, you will pass right by and never know it’s there.  If you are coming from the west and you get to Rockport State Park then you’ve gone too far.  The road will be on your left.  The road eventually brings you up to a decent sized parking lot with a jaw dropping view of Mt. Baker and the Cascades.  If you want to top that view, you have the option to hike to the summit of Sauk, an additional roughly 4 miles and over 1000 feet in additional elevation gain.  Take bug spray!
