Love, love, love, love this bed and breakfast! If you are taking a trip to Sonoma Valley, I recommend you look in to staying at the Beltane Ranch. It is an actual working ranch complete with cows, horses, chickens, and crops (including the area staples: grape vines and olive trees).
There are several buildings on the property but the focal point is the bed and breakfast itself; a two story building dating back to 1892. Both floors have a full wraparound porch on which you can lounge at one of the cute café tables or relaxing on the two person porch swing. When you step off the front porch you walk in to a stunning flower garden. Having a bit of a green thumb I was a little green with envy at their beautiful flowers. They put them to good use throughout the bed and breakfast in the rooms and on the breakfast table.
For dinner that evening we drove just about 5 minutes in to down town Glen Ellen to try out the Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill and Martini Bar. It was fantastic! The food was delicious and the service prompt and friendly. Our servers were Marek and Rafael. I’m sure the other staff is just as superb but I still recommend asking for these guys. Marek’s wine recommendation was spot on and his recommendation for oysters was equally appealing. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, complete with candle light and a fireplace.
Back at Beltane Ranch there are 5 guest rooms and a private cottage steps away from the main house, perfect for the honeymooners we met at breakfast. We were in room 2 which was the center room on the top floor. Our room had double doors with screens and we were able to leave the doors open all night so the fresh air could circulate in lulling us to sleep. Each room also has a private bath which is a nice feature for a bed and breakfast. The furnishings are comfortable mixed with a few antiques. I probably could have slept on the couch it was so comfy, but the bed was calling my name.
In the morning we woke up to enjoy a fresh homemade breakfast. We were treated to waffles with fresh whipped cream and fresh picked raspberries. My boyfriend also made a special request for a couple of eggs (fresh from the chicken coup on the property) that they happily fulfilled. Overall we felt welcome and comfortable and are telling everyone we know to visit this fabulous bed and breakfast.
