During our stay on the Olympic Peninsula, we enjoyed dinner at Michael’s Seafood and Steakhouse. Our server, Susanne was a saint for putting up with the “interesting” elderly couple at the next table. Their comments ranged from “if I want a 2X4, I want it to be 2 inches by 4 inches!” to “well sweetie, we understand you were busy earlier in the evening but you aren’t now so the cook should be well caught up by now” …they had maybe been waiting 10 minutes for their food at that point.
If you’re on a tight budget you may want to skip this one, or as we did, consider it your splurge night. The food was delicious. Hearty American-Italian influence with a great selection of beers, ciders, and wines. My one wish was that the seafood items on the menu were left a little more in their natural state so to speak. I generally don’t like my seafood to be hidden under sauces and mixed with breading (there is a time and a place for all seafood though). I prefer to crack shellfish myself or at least partially and only have a light white wine sauce or some drawn butter. Seafood is too yummy to cover up! High maintenance on my part? Perhaps, but if I’m shelling out the money for Dungeness Crab, I want to know the meat actually came out of a Dungeness Crab.
We saved room for dessert and I had a mixed berry crisp made with local in season berries. It was pretty heavenly and the perfect finish to the evening.
